Rumor | Realme "GT Neo6" will launch as the GT5 instead
A famous and typically accurate leaker has good news to share: the Realme GT series of high-end Android smartphones is back in earnest worldwide. It might pick up where it left off with a device heretofore thought of as the GT Neo6, which - while potentially impressive in itself with its Pixel 7 Pro-challenging specs and design - will be vanilla compared to its line's next-gen flagship.
Realme seems to have given up on flagship smartphones as of late, preferring to offer premium mid-rangers further augmented with unique features such as industry-leading charging speeds under the GT Neo sub-series name.
Accordingly, the only GT of 2023 was the global version of the same Neo5. However, it now seems that Realme is ready to bring the brand back in its native China as well. According to the leaker Digital Chat Station, this process will start with a GT5 and GT5 Pro, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and next-gen 8 Gen 3 respectively.
Coincidentally, the OEM has been rumored to have an 8 Gen 2-powered GT Neo6 on the way - now, it is possible that it will arrive as this GT5 instead. It will be interesting to see if it or its Pro sibling will drop dual ultra-fast-charging options as a gimmick should they truly go back to being the top of their Android smartphone line-up once again.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
