The first signs of successors to the Realme 9 series of Android smartphones has allegedly arrived in the form of the 10 4G. Its apparent forebear had a Qualcomm SoC; however, this putative 2023 budget device has gone with a newer MediaTek Helio-series platform instead. It is tipped to have very similar specs as the 9 4G otherwise - however, it might debut with an updated rear panel, at least.

Realme's 9 series is still this OEM's main source of potentially affordable new Android smartphones. It starts with a 4G/LTE-only model in 2022; now, according to some new leaks, things will be little different in 2023. Then again, the supposedly entry-level 10 has gotten somewhat far away from its Snapdragon 680-powered predecessor in 1 important respect.

The arrival of a device calling itself the "realme RMX3630" onto Geekbench 5 has sparked rumors that it will launch as the 10 4G in early 2023. Should this be the case, it will do so with an 8-core CPU that goes up to 2.2GHz. As it has reportedly has a Mali-G57 MC2 for a GPU, it is thought to be the new-ish Helio G99.

The RMX3630 has also found its way onto the FCC database, which establishes that it does indeed have 4G/LTE-only mobile data capabilities, along with a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging. Therefore, this might indeed indicate the presence of a 10-series variant with SuperVOOC charging, albeit of one of the slowest kinds out there.

Geekbench also purports to add Android 12 (rather than 13) and 8GB of RAM to this prospective spec-sheet, thereby underpinning the sense of the potentially underwhelming and repetitive in this new generation.

On the other hand, a 10 4G, even one such as this, would step into the shoes of a smartphone with a 90Hz AMOLED display and the same camera hump style as its flagship counterparts that went for less that US$250 at launch - and still does today, in fact.

Its alleged successor, on the other hand, is now depicted with an update to a more modern-looking back panel that, furthermore, reflects the return of dual, yet possibly more functional, rear cameras.
