Opera released a variant of its browser optimized for gaming earlier this year. Now, it has announced that the same app, known as GX, is compatible with macOS as well as Windows. Therefore, those using such systems can now use features such as Twitch support and network limiters in their browser.

Opera released the GX variant of its browser in mid-2019. This app is directed at gamers, which is rather apparent in its layout, design and default theme. It also has features such as relevant news sections and a network limiter, which can make data used constant while playing something.

GX also has CPU and RAM controls that may ensure enough resources are also devoted to this browser while using it for gaming. Furthermore, it retains potentially helpful stock Opera features such as an ad-blocker and inbuilt free VPN.

However, this app may have had one main drawback: it has only been available on Windows to date. Opera has addressed this by adding fresh macOS support. Given that the initial version accumulated at least 1 million downloads in its first 3 months of general release, it will be interesting to see if its new sibling can do the same.
