While Nintendo's Direct events are historically scheduled to be slotted in a 60-minute window, they rarely last the entire time and September 12th's Direct might be Nintendo's longest yet.

Nintendo has officially confirmed the previously rumored Nintendo Direct, which is supposedly going to be the longest ever showcase outside of a console reveal. The Nintendo Direct presentation is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET. It will feature “roughly 60 minutes of information on upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch games.”

That makes it the longest livestream outside of the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal earlier this year. On average, Nintendo Direct livestreams contain info on first and third-party games, and last around 40 to 45 minutes. The previous longest-running Nintendo Direct was in February 2021.

While the company hasn’t specified the details of the Nintendo Direct presentations, there’s a lot for Nintendo to cram in this time around. First of all, the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. takes place on September 12, which hints at a few Mario announcements in the upcoming Direct Showcase.

At the same time, Nintendo has planned multiple first-party Switch 2 games for the future, which currently have no release date, such as Metroid Prime 4, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, and Splatoon Raiders. As for next year, Nintendo hasn’t announced any plans for first-party games for the Switch 2 for 2026, but that might change in the upcoming Nintendo Direct.

Outside of Nintendo’s first-party roster, several high-profile third-party releases are expected down the pipeline, including multiple Resident Evil games coming to the Switch 2, including Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remake, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil 4 Remake, a few Xbox titles, and the Assassin’s Creed franchise. It’s reported that these third-party ports will run natively on Switch 2 hardware.

Nintendo is already planning a few games for the original Switch, including a Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and Rhythm Heaven Groove release in 2026.

Nintendo previously hosted a Direct showcase last month, which focused exclusively on Kirby Air Riders. The 45-minute showcase broke down various game modes and mechanics of Air Riders, a direct sequel to the 2003 GameCube Kirby: Air Ride. Kirby Air Riders is scheduled to release on November 20 for the Nintendo Switch, priced at $70.
