Anker is rumored to be launching the soundcore V40i open-ear earbuds in the US. They are known by model number A3878 and appear to build on the older V30i. These new headphones were also spotted in a recent update for the soundcore app and are listed at Vietnamese retailers CellphoneS. Plus, various support videos for this product recently appeared on YouTube.
According to reliable tipster AnkerInsider, the soundcore V40i earbuds are equipped with 15 x 13 x 4 mm drivers for a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response range and 16 Ω impedance. They have four integrated microphones allowing you to use the open-ear headphones for a voice call. There are various tap and tap and hold controls, with further settings offered in the soundcore app. The earbuds also support Bluetooth 5.4, an upgrade on the Bluetooth 5.3 of the V30i, with a 10 m (~33 ft) range. Plus, the Dual Connection feature should allow them to be connected to two devices simultaneously.
The silver and black soundcore V40i headphones come with a transparent charging case, which itself is charged via USB-C. They are said to offer up to six hours of playtime on a single charge or 21 hours with the charging case. This is a notable downgrade from the lifetime of the V30i, estimated at 12 hours on a single charge or 36 hours with the case. The latest model is billed as IP55 dust and water-resistant, a slight improvement on the IPX5 rating of the V30i, suggesting the older version did not offer dust protection.
It has been suggested that the Anker soundcore V40i will launch in the US in the next few months with an RRP of $90-100. However, Anker has yet to make an official announcement about the product’s launch. The older Anker soundcore V30i open-ear headphones were originally listed at $49.99 at Amazon US but are currently available for $36.55.
