You'll no longer have to choose between resolution and refresh rate soon enough. 4K laptop displays with fast refresh rates are finally here for both ultra-smooth movements and crisper images. Previously, panels with native 120 Hz, 144 Hz, or 240 Hz native refresh rates were limited to a native resolution of only 1080p.

The 17.3-inch Blade Pro 17 2019 is Razer's largest and fastest model in its family of super-thin laptops and yet it has been limited to a 1080p display. In contrast, the smaller 13.3-inch Blade Stealth and 15.6-inch Blade 15 models have optional 4K UHD options for denser PPI and sharper details.

Razer has announced today that it will finally rectify this issue with a new 4K UHD display option for the Blade Pro 17. Perhaps more notably, the panel will also have a native refresh rate of 120 Hz compared to only 60 Hz on existing 4K UHD displays as found on most other laptops. Users who are already accustomed to fast refresh rate monitors will know the benefits that 120 Hz or 144 Hz monitors can provide over the 60 Hz standard.

Aside from the higher resolution and refresh rate, Razer is also promising 400 nits of brightness and 100 percent AdobeRGB coverage compared to "only" 300 nits and 100 percent sRGB coverage on the existing 1080p144 display option. Note that the 4K option will only be available on SKUs with the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q for a high barrier of entry.

Expect the Blade Pro 17 RTX 2080 Max-Q to ship with the 2160p120 panel option later this month in the U.S. and sometime in Q4 2019 everywhere else. There will be no physical changes to the chassis as this is simply a new SKU.
