Gaming laptops are traditionally quite heavy owing to their demanding processors and extra features. Ultralight models like the Razer Blade 16 or HP Omen Transcend 16 attempt to address these concerns with thinner and lighter designs. Lenovo, however, appears to have one-upped the competition in this race with its latest 10th gen Legion 7 16 model.
As shown by our comparison chart below, the 16-inch Legion 7 16IAX10 comes in at just 2 kg (or 1978 g) to be one of the lightest gaming laptops for its size class. Alternatives like the aforementioned Razer and HP are slightly heavier by 100 g to 200 g each, respectively. The closest competitors are the MSI Stealth 16 AI and Asus Zephyrus G16 2025 which also come in at a hair under 2 kg each if we're counting every gram.
Lenovo was able to achieve its goal through several under-the-hood adjustments. Battery capacity, for example, is slightly smaller than competitors at 84 Wh while OLED panels are forced onto all configurations instead of offering heavier IPS options. There are slightly fewer integrated ports as well even when compared to the 2024 Legion 7 16 Gen 9.
Perhaps most importantly, the legion 7 16 Gen 10 doesn't cut any corners when it comes to performance. The model ships with Arrow Lake-HX processors as standard instead of H-series options while the RTX 5060 or 5070 GPU targets a relatively high 115 W TGP despite the <2 kg weight. This makes the system faster than many heavier laptops with the same GPU including the Alienware 16 Aurora.
