Lenovo has now fully detailed its next Legion Go gaming handheld. Arriving later this month as the Legion Go Gen 2 and not the Legion Go 2, the gaming handheld also provides backwards compatibility with the original Legion Go via its TrueStrike detachable controllers.

Lenovo has finally shared more details about its second Legion Go after releasing the Legion Go S (curr. $649.99 on Amazon) earlier this year. Since then, Asus has confirmed the existence of the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X with similar hardware. Likewise, MSI has released the Claw A8 in multiple markets powered by AMD's Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU.

Not only has Lenovo now confirmed pricing and availability, but it has also confirmed a name change from the previously presumed Legion Go 2. Instead, the new Legion Go will arrive as the Legion Go Gen 2 or Legion Go (8.8", 2). Moreover, the Legion Go Gen 2 features the following hardware:

Lenovo Legion Go Gen 2
Dimensions Base Module: 206 x 136.7 x 22.95 mm & 710 g
With TrueStrike controllers: 295.6 x 136.7 x 42.25 mm & 920 g
Display 8.8-inch OLED, 1,920 x 1,200, 144 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits, 97% DCI-P3 colour space
Processor Up to AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme with Radeon 890M but no onboard AI
Memory Up to 32 GB LPDDR5X-8000 RAM & 2 TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2242 SSD
Battery 74 Wh battery (4-cell) & 65 W wired charging
I/O 1x 3.5 mm jack, 2x USB 4.0, 1x microSD card reader, 2x 2 W speakers

On top of that, Lenovo claims that its TrueStrike controllers are more ergonomically contoured than those it included with the original Legion Go. Nonetheless, they still offer a vertical FPS mouse mode, are detachable and can be combined with a grip into a conventional controller. Lenovo has equipped each TrueStrike controller with a Hall effect joystick too, while maintaining compatibility with the existing Legion Go.
The Legion Go Gen 2 will go on sale in Europe later this month for €999 to mirror the MSI Claw A8. Unfortunately, Lenovo has not confirmed what specifications to expect from this €999 starting price. The implication from Lenovo's promotional materials is that the Legion Go Gen 2 will start with an AMD Ryzen Z2 though, rather than the more powerful Ryzen Z2 Extreme. By contrast, the US will receive the Legion Go Gen 2 in November for between $1,049 and $1,099.
