Claw A8: MSI releases first AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme gaming handheld in UK with September shipments
MSI's latest gaming handheld has now landed in the UK after briefly being available in France. To recap, the company started offering the Claw A8 in France for €899, a €100 drop from its earlier release in Germany. Surprisingly, the UK has received MSI's first AMD-based gaming handheld for between these price points at current exchange rates.
For the time being, only Scan UK is offering the Claw A8 in the UK. At the time of publication, the retailer has stock of Polar Tempest and Neon Green variants priced at £849.98. Currently, this pricing converts to around €980, factoring in the UK's 20% VAT.
Relatively speaking, the Claw A8 is cheaper in France than in neighbouring countries. Moreover, Scan UK reports that pre-orders should begin shipping on September 17. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether this release date will apply more broadly in other markets or just within the UK.
For reference, while the Claw A8 resembles the Claw 7 AI+ (curr. $849 on Amazon) with its aggressive edges, it is much closer to the Claw 8 AI+ in terms of hardware. Specifically, MSI equips the Claw A8 with the following hardware.
