MSI has quietly been bringing its first AMD Ryzen-powered gaming handheld to more markets in the last few weeks. Initially released in China, the Claw A8 or Claw 8 Ryzen Edition then landed in other parts of Asia before reaching European retailers nearly a week ago. For some reason, MSI had only committed itself to releasing the Claw 8 Ryzen Edition sometime this summer.
Now, the company's Germany subsidiary has indicated that the device should be available starting week 32, which commences on August 4. In other words, the Claw 8 Ryzen Edition appears set to reach Europe by August 10 at the latest. Based on MSI Germany's listings, the Claw 8 Ryzen Edition will only be sold in Neon Green and Polar Tempest White finishes with a Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU, 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of M.2 2280 storage.
Incidentally, the new model will retail for just as much as the existing Claw 8 AI+ (curr. $999 on Amazon) at €999. As a result, we suspect that the Claw 8 Ryzen Edition will reach other markets like North America at roughly the same price point as its Intel Lunar Lake-backed counterpart.
Meanwhile, MSI has already issued a BIOS update for the new device. Distributed as v.103, the new BIOS revision is said to resolve performance drops in Manual Mode when adjusting the device's thermal design power (TDP). Moreover, MSI Center M v.2.0.2507.2201 has also arrived with Copilot Key support, improved power monitoring and enhanced Endurance Mode battery life.
