The Dell Precision 5470 is now official with up to an Intel Core i9-12900HK, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, 4 TB NVMe SSD, 14-inch FHD+ or QHD+ screen, four Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, and more. It goes on sale in April 2022 for an unspecified price.

Nvidia and Intel unveiled several enterprise-grade hardware in the past few weeks, and several OEMs like Dell are beginning to announce laptops that use the said components. The Dell Precision 5470 is one such notebook that is tailor-made for use in an enterprise environment. Its chassis is 11 mm (0.4 in) thick and weighs 1.4 kg (3.2 lbs), making it one of the more portable options out there. The laptop will be purchasable in April 2022, and its price will be revealed soon.

The Precision 5470's razor-thin chassis hasn't stopped Dell from fitting the laptop with top-of-the-line hardware. On the CPU front, one can configure it with up to an Intel Core i9-12900HK Alder Lake processor and SKUs with lower-tier Core i5/i7 CPUs are also available. One can stick with an integrated Intel Iris Xe for graphics or upgrade that to an Nvidia RTX A1000 with 4 GB of VRAM. Biometric authentication is enabled via the 720p Windows Hello compatible webcam and a fingerprint sensor baked into the power button.

Thanks to its Alder Lake processor, the Dell Precision 5470 can use up to 32 GB of 5,400 MT/s DDR5 RAM. The laptop supports up to a 4 TB NVMe SSD, and self-encrypting drives up to 1 TB in size will be added soon, along with a 64 GB RAM model. There is Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, four Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, an SD card reader, and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack for connectivity. The lack of USB A ports is unfortunate and will force users to purchase Thunderbolt docks. Thankfully, all four ports can output a video signal and charge the laptop.

The Dell Precision 5740's 14-inch IPS LCD screen is available in two configurations, one with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 and the other with 2,560 x 1,600. Both panels have a peak brightness of 500 nits, cover 100% of the sRGB colour gamut, and support touch inputs. The notebook's 73 Wh battery supports up to 150 W fast charging via the Thunderbolt port. Lastly, one can configure the laptop to run Windows 11, Windows 10, Ubuntu or Red Hat Linux out of the box.
