DOOGEE updates its rugged S88 series with more RAM and a new main camera
Rugged phones are getting more and more common these days, which is why DOOGEE may have chosen to help the S88 Pro stand out with rear-facing "Iron Man" LEDs set into black glass under its triple cameras. They can be set to change color in response to notifications, or to put on a cycling RGB show in sync with the music being played. This feature, as well as many other aspects of the phone, are carried through into its successor, the S88 Plus.
They include IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810G durability ratings, which (as DOOGEE claims) may allow the device to survive drops from 1.5 meters (m) up or immersion to depths of 2m. It also still has a 10,000mAh battery (nearly the largest available to rugged phones), and exhibits the handy feature of doubling as a wireless power bank.
DOOGEE has refreshed the S88 Pro configuration in this new model by replacing its old 21MP main camera with a new 48MP Samsung "AI" sensor (joining dual 8MP shooters on its rear panel), and by increasing RAM to 8GB. Then again, the Plus sticks with the 6.3-inch FHD+ screen, MediaTek Helio P70 SoC, 128GB internal storage capacity and even Android 10-based OS of its previous iteration.
The OEM has decided on a regular price of ~US$350 for this "new" S88 Plus. However, this has been reduced to ~$200 for its debut on AliExpress. This offer is valid from now until January 31, 2020, and applies to the DOOGEE phone's Army Green, Fire Orange and Mineral Black colorways.
