After a launch date was recently assumed for September, which would have been in line with the September 2023 launch date of its predecessor, drone leaker Jasper Ellens recently surprised the community with the announcement that the launch would take place sooner. According to one of his reliable sources, the DJI Mini 5 Pro will take flight on August 7, just under seven weeks from now. This date has not yet been confirmed, and the leaker himself was unable to verify the date, so readers should take this statement with a grain of salt.
The all-clear, however, can be given regarding the propeller cage, which appears to have been omitted from the final design, as the recent photo leak suggests. As luck would have it, a mountain biker happened to capture on film the final design of the DJI Mini 5 Pro without the prototype sticker while it was being tested in a park.
The quality of the zoom shot leaves much to be desired, but the video below and the screenshot above clearly show DJI's usual mini-drone design with foldable propellers without a cage. The front design, initially leaked last year with its new LIDA sensors and ventilated motors, can also be seen here. According to FCC certification in 2025, the 249-gram mini-drone is also expected to feature a significantly larger battery. A 1-inch camera sensor is also rumored but not confirmed.
