Over a month has passed since rumours about a new DJI Mini drone appeared online. In the interim, leakers have focused on DJI's other upcoming products like Osmo Nano, Osmo 360 and Osmo Action 6 cameras. Reportedly, a true successor to the DJI Mic 2 will debut before the end of the summer too, after the arrival of the Mic Mini last November (curr. $239 on Amazon).
Now, Igor Bogdanov and Xdrones Studio have shared new images of what they both claim is the Mini 5 Pro. For context, only a pixelated image of the same drone had emerged until now. As far as we can tell, this new image is of the same prototype as the one that arrived earlier this year considering the layout of their obstacle avoidance sensors and relatively large propeller guards.
At this stage, it remains unclear whether the latter are optional. Potentially, offering these as optional accessories would allow DJI to market the Mini 5 Pro as a sub-250 g drone like previous Mini drones. Otherwise, it seems improbable that the Mini 5 Pro will stay below this weight class, particularly given that it contains over a 75% larger battery than the Mini 4 Pro, which will provide up to 33.5 Wh (7.16V/4,680 mAh). Currently, DJI is expected to deliver the Mini 5 Pro in September.
