DJI has released several high-end consumer drones in the last few months. Most recently, the company refreshed its Mavic series with the Mavic 4 Pro, which builds upon the older Mavic 3 Pro in crucial areas. Recent evidence suggests that the company will soon replace the Mini 4 Pro with the Mini 5 Pro, too. While it remains to be seen exactly when at this stage, the Mini 5 Pro has now taken a step closer to being released by being certified by the FCC in the US.
According to the well-regarded OsitaLV, the Mini 5 Pro is one of many drones DJI has 'on the way'. Another is said to be the Avata 3, which the same leaker asserts will receive a larger CMOS camera sensor than the 1/1.3-inch and 12 MP one found in the current Avata 2 (curr. $1,199 on Amazon). Other upgrades remain unknown for now; a new camera would represent a significant change in its own right, though.
Added to that, Igor Bogdanov has shared the first footage of what he believes is the Avata 3 rather than the Neo 2 that OsitaLV also implies will arrive this year. Seemingly captured while the Avata 3 is undergoing test flights, the footage likely shows the drone upside down, given its thick body. Detailed differences between the Avata 2 and Avata 3 cannot be made out for now, although it looks like DJI has revised its propeller design for its third-generation model.
