Casio’s GA2100 series has never been shy about experimenting with materials and colorways - and its latest update is now available to buy in the US - nearly a week after its EU launch confirmation. The new GA2100BM models add a translucent touch to an already familiar silhouette. The previously unveiled lineup includes three models - GA2100BM-7A2, 7A5, and 7A8 - each featuring a transparent case and strap paired with metallic vapor-deposited dials in sky blue, rose gold, and silver. They’re easy on the eyes, but there's no new, out-of-the-box design statement here - this drop plays it safe.
The colored dials add some life to the classic octagonal GA2100 shape, especially with the metallic shimmer effect that gives the markers and hands more depth. The translucent resin band should make the watches feel lighter and a bit more summery. That said, we've seen Casio go this route before - this isn't their first rodeo with clear resin or color pops. For anyone already familiar with the GA2100 line, this might feel more like a seasonal refresh above everything else.
Functionally, the watches still deliver where it counts: 200 meters of water resistance, Carbon Core Guard structure, world time, a 1/100s stopwatch, countdown timer, dual LED lighting, and a 3-year battery. At $130, it’s not bad for a dependable, good-looking everyday watch. At this price point, however, it also faces light competition from similarly positioned watches like the Timex Expedition North, or the Swatch Big Bold, both of which bring their own character to the table.
