Ayaneo has now announced the Pocket DS, which appears to be the device that it teased last week. Incidentally, the company revealed a slew of other devices today too, including a new sub-brand aimed at offering cheaper gaming handhelds. First rumoured in the spring, the Pocket DS is effectively an ARM-based version of the Flip 1S DS that Ayaneo released globally earlier this month.
To that end, the Pocket DS has a CNC housing and a much larger secondary display than last year's Flip DS. With that being said, the device has a less conventional controller layout than alternatives like the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 (curr. $269 on Amazon). The inclusion of a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset should allow the Pocket DS to run more coolly and quietly than x86-based rivals, too.
Currently, Ayaneo indicates that the Pocket DS is already in mass production. Thus, the device should be available sooner rather than later. According to the company's CEO, Ayaneo will reveal more details about the Pocket DS tomorrow. On top of that, the device will be present next month during ChinaJoy 2025 in Shanghai, which runs between August 1 and August 4. Please see the video below for more information.
