Ayaneo has now released the Flip 1S DS and Flip 1S KB globally after teasing the platform for about two months. In short, the Flip 1S starts for less than $800 with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage regardless of whether you opt for its dual-screen or keyboard variants. Unfortunately, Ayaneo has muddled pricing somewhat after implying that the Flip 1S would only be available with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU.
As the screenshot below shows, the Flip 1S starts with the older Ryzen 7 8840U, which can also be configured with 32 GB of RAM and 2 TB of storage. By contrast, Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 SKUs start at $1,279 with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage to mirror the pricing of other Ryzen AI 9 HX 370-powered gaming handhelds like the Aokzoe A1X and OneXFly F1 Pro (curr. $1,239 - renewed on Amazon).
The Flip 1S generation is more than just an APU bump over last year's Flip KB and Flip DS, though. For instance, Ayaneo claims to have overhauled the design of both variants to improve ergonomics, which was a point of complaint during our Flip KB review. Similarly, the company has optimised the button layout for this year's models with larger ABXY buttons and TMR electromagnetic joysticks.
On top of that, the Flip 1S KB and Flip 1S DS leverage 7-inch OLED main displays with 144 Hz refresh rates paired with 45 Wh batteries. As a result, both variants will likely offer comparatively poor battery life, particularly in view of 80 Wh options like the ROG Ally X, MSI Claw 8 and the Aokzoe A1X. Currently, Ayaneo hopes to begin shipping units to Indiegogo backers in September 2025.
