Acer’s Aspire E15 (E5-575G) is an amazing all-rounder with few drawbacks – taking into account the price point, of course – because it delivers unmatched performance, decent and refreshing design and features usually found on a mid-range laptop. We’ve got a GDDR5-powered GeForce 940MX GPU suitable for light gaming, Core i5-6200U ultra-low voltage, yet powerful CPU, two DDR4-2133 compatible RAM slots, M.2 SATA SSD slot, which we tried and works with a 2280 standard stick, USB-C 3.1 for ultra-fast data transfer and perfectly good keyboard and touchpad. And all of this for just $550 as a starting price. What’s not to like, right?

Model: There are a lot of competitions in the entry-level laptop segment these days. It is one of the biggest market for the laptop industry. The Acer Aspire E5-575G-54TU is a good example for that. Released by Acer under Aspire E series, it is built for students and home users to do basic computing tasks such as browsing and entertainment. The Acer Aspire E5-575G-54TU comes with an Intel Core i5-6200U processor, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, an Intel HD Graphics 520 onboard graphics adapter and an Nvidia GeForce 940MX. The processor can be boosted to a clock speed of 2.8 GHz and the RAM can be expanded to a maximum of 32 GB. As for storage, it features hybrid hard drive storage system to achieve both faster boot up from the solid state disk and large storage size from the conventional hard disk drive. The solid state disk size is 96 GB and the hard disk drive size is 1000 GB, which gives a total storage capacity of 1096 GB. The inclusion of a normal hard disk is definitely sufficient enough for the average user’s media requirements.
For display, the Acer Aspire E5-575G-54TU features a 15.6-inch Full HD 16:9 LED backlit display. The matte display has the advantage of less reflection under sunlight and does not capture fingerprints, which are ideal for outdoor usage. However, the colors displayed on matte display could look less vibrant compared to glossy displays. As for operating system, the Acer Aspire E5-575G-54TU runs on Windows 10 64-bit Home edition. The Acer Aspire E5-575G-54TU measures at 381.6 x 259 x 29.2 mm (W x D x H) and weighs at 2.4 kg (5.29 lbs). This is an average weight for laptops with 15.6-inch display. A 4-cell Li-Ion battery delivers up to 6 hours battery life. The Acer Aspire E5-575G-54TU has an 8x SuperMulti DL DVD burner built in. A DVD burner is less built in on newer laptops nowadays for slimmer and lighter build. This feature is convenient for users who need to play and burn discs on the go, such as students. Additionally, it has two integrated speakers and a 720p HD webcam built in with two microphones for users who need entertainment and video call on the go. As for networking, the laptop features Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and Ethernet LAN. For input/output connections, it comes with a headphone & microphone combo, an HDMI port, a VGA port, a USB 3.1 Type C port, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port and an SD card reader. The Acer Aspire E5-575G-54TU is a very functional, reasonably priced laptop. It is perfect for students who need decent specs in a laptop that doesn’t leave a big hole in their pockets.

NVIDIA GeForce 940MX: Mid-range laptop graphics card based on the Maxwell architecture. Compared to the older 940M, the MX now also supports GDDR5 graphics memory and maybe slightly faster clock speeds.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
