Elon Musk famously claimed his cars were simply computers on wheels. However, they are proving to be advanced versions of computing devices. Tesla cars will soon be integrated with the most advanced edition of xAI’s Grok, and a live demo of the AI model is scheduled for today.
Grok 3 will bring significant improvements after xAI updated its Large Language Model (LLM) training method. The AI model has been using real-time information based on posts on the X social media platform to generate answers, enabling it to share breaking news.
The latest features in Grok include self-correction, which helps Grok spot and fix its mistakes. Reinforcement learning uses rewards and penalties to reduce the possibility of wrong answers, while synthetic datasets or artificially generated data will speed up the training process.
Perhaps the most prominent update is the live-voice mode, an area where Grok lagged behind the completion. This feature is key to Grok’s integration in Tesla cars.
Grok is expected to enhance the existing voice commands in Tesla, with a demo potentially in the works tonight. The AI model will link deeply with Full Self-Driving (FSD), meaning Grok could gather real-life data for autonomous driving. It should also enable general knowledge queries such as asking for the weather more naturally and other complex requests.
Other EV makers are deploying AI, including Chinese duo Geely and Voyah, which is collaborating with DeepSeek.
