Tesla continues to suffer vandalism on its properties, but it seems the long arm of the law is finally catching up with a suspect. The Loveland Police Department has announced the arrest of the alleged perpetrator of four attacks on Tesla’s Colorado store.
According to Chief of Police Tim Doran, 40-year-old Lucy Grace Nelson, aka Justin Thomas Nelson, was arrested on February 24th based on incidents reported at Tesla’s store in Loveland on January 29th, February 2nd, and February 7th. The suspect was apprehended at the store, with devices capable of causing fires and vandalism found on them.
Nelson was taken to the Larimer County Jail but has since posted a $100,000 bond. They were booked on multiple charges, including criminal attempt to commit class 3 and class 4 felonies. Federal charges could follow, as the Loveland Police says it is working closely with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
Tesla has vowed to use legal means to go after attackers of its businesses. It is also confronting vandalism and theft by stamping its name on Supercharger cables and embedding exploding ink. The automaker has faced increased vandalism in the US, some of which can be linked to CEO Elon Musk’s activities on behalf of the current administration.
