Tesla’s Superchargers have become increasingly attractive to vandals, who damage or deface them or filch charging cables. However, the automaker will not continue to take it lying down, as it has vowed to file charges against suspects.
The EV manufacturer was responding on X to a post reporting another case of vandalism. As shown in the photos uploaded by X user @SnazzyLabs, the latest attack involved spraying the word “NAZI” and the Swastika symbol on a Supercharger. He added, “This graffiti at my local Supercharger would suggest that perhaps Elon Musk is damaging Tesla’s brand.”
The official X charging handle (@TeslaCharging) replied that the defacement would be removed immediately. Another user, @lennylegend86, remarked that a nearby camera could have caught the culprit, to which TeslaCharging replied the company would press charges for vandalism at Superchargers.
Taking legal action is another method Tesla is using to combat Supercharger damage and theft. It is branding cables and embedding exploding ink to make apprehending vandals easier.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk continues acquiring fans and haters with his high involvement in the US administration. He heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is tasked with slashing government spending and improving productivity among federal employees. His efforts have resulted in the dismantling of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the termination of the employment of thousands of civil servants.
