Norton has added the AI-powered Genie Scam Protection to all its Norton 360 security software products. The Genie leverages AI to spot scams that are difficult for people to detect, helping protect their money and information from theft.
Norton has been making antivirus products for decades, and these are top-ranking according to AV Comparatives and AV Test antivirus software tests. Antivirus software scans a computer's memory and hard drive for signatures of viruses that can infect and steal or damage data. However, traditional AV software cannot detect scams commonly seen in text messages (SMS) and online, which often use malicious links, fake identities and phone numbers, and other means to steal.
For Norton 360 products, Genie Scam Protection adds:
- Safe SMS - Users are warned of scam text messages.
- Safe Web - Users are warned of bad websites.
- Scam assistant - Users can interact with the AI in real-time to identify scams by submitting screenshots and more.
- Dashboard - Users can monitor all the scams Genie has detected.
For Norton 360 with Lifelock products, Genie Scan Protection includes all of the above and adds:
- Safe Call - Users can auto-block or manually block calls indicated as scam calls.
- Safe Email - Users are warned of scam email messages.
- Only for Norton 360 with Lifelock Ultimate Plus users - $10,000 in loss coverage for certain types of scams.
