Vivo launches new V series phone with 7,200mAh battery and 3x periscope camera

Vivo has launched the V80 in India, with prices starting at ₹62,999 (approximately $655) for the model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The 256GB and 512GB versions, both with 8GB of RAM, cost ₹69,999 and ₹79,999 (approximately $835), respectively.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 powers the phone, the same chipset Vivo used in the V70 earlier this year. The V80 pairs it with a 7,200mAh silicon-carbon battery and 90W wired charging, up from the 6,500mAh cell in its predecessor. Vivo rates the battery for up to 14 hours of navigation and 39.5 hours of local video playback.
The 6.59-inch AMOLED display refreshes at up to 144Hz, with a resolution of 1260 x 2750 pixels and peak brightness of 5,000 nits.
Zeiss-branded cameras sit on the back. The main camera uses a 50MP Sony LYT-700V sensor with optical image stabilization and autofocus, and it records 4K video at 60 fps along with a 4K cinematic mode. A 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto with optical stabilization provides 3x optical zoom, while an 8MP ultrawide completes the setup. The front camera uses a 50MP sensor with autofocus.
The V80 is one of the first phones to ship with Android 17, running Vivo's OriginOS 7 interface. It has an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, stereo speakers, NFC, eSIM support, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.4. The 128GB model uses UFS 3.1 storage, while the 256GB and 512GB versions use faster UFS 4.1.
An aluminum frame and glass back make up the body, which measures 7.79mm thick and weighs 210g. The phone comes in Horizon Blue, Stellar Black, and Sunrise Anthem.
The V70 launched in India at ₹45,999 (approximately $480) for its 8GB/256GB version, ₹24,000 (approximately $250) below the equivalent V80 configuration. The new model sits above the V80 Lite, which Vivo introduced in September with a 10,000mAh battery.
