Some interesting supposed Sony Xperia 1 V leaks have surfaced recently, in regard to the likely 2023 flagship smartphone’s image-taking ability, hardware configuration, and the dream camera zoom setup. A radical design overhaul for the Xperia 1 V also seems unlikely as fans can expect more of the same but slightly better.

There have been plenty of tidbits popping up about the Sony Xperia 1 V as of late, although it is safe to take most of the information supplied with a pinch of salt, as some of the details appear in quite random places. For instance, a forum post of a pretty photo of stones being splashed by water at the shore has in itself created a little splash due to the listed shooting equipment: “Sony XQ DC72”. SumahoDigest has posited that this could well be the Sony Xperia 1 V, with the “D” in the model number representing the year 2023. The camera details offered along with the image reveal an f.1.7 aperture and ISO 64, with the same user frequently utilizing an Xperia 1 III for their landscape shots.

An even more curious leak reveals the potential for the Xperia 1 V to feature a new hardware button, which would be somewhat ironic after Sony decided to eliminate the “Google Assistant” (customizable shortcut) button from the Xperia 1 III when it came round to designing the Xperia 1 IV. Apparently, a prototype model of the next-generation Xperia has been spotted with two buttons at the bottom of the right side, with one of those obviously being for the camera. An extra button may end up being the only design difference between the Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 1 V, with a well-known leaker opining that Sony might stick with the same look between generations in terms of thickness and length, as that would allow for Gaming Gear peripheral compatibility.

Last but not least, yet another Weibo resident has been making some comments possibly in regard to the potential camera equipment for the Sony Xperia 1 V. It’s important to point out that the translation reads as something similar to “this is Sony’s dream”, so it may be more of an opinion than an actual sourced leak. The post gives the following camera-related information: “13-26 mm + 24-72 mm + 70-210 mm”. So, all three cameras in the main rear-facing photography equipment would offer optical zooms of varying degrees. However, as has been pointed out elsewhere, this could be more about what Sony would like to offer rather than anything to actually do with a Mark 5 variant of the Xperia 1. But fans can still hope.
