According to a report by Italian outlet Aggiornamente Lumia, Apple is reportedly working on a new app for Windows 10. While there is no clarity as to what the app will do, reports from last year indicate that it might just be a next-generation overhaul of Apple iTunes on Windows 10 that could potentially run on Xbox Series X.
Technically, Apple already supports both a classic Windows iTunes App and a UWP variant on the Microsoft Store. However, the Microsoft Store variant (which new users are pointed towards) is little more than a port of the regular desktop app. This meant that a port for Xbox users was never on the cards.
However, thanks to nature of UWP, apps built around the platform work on both Windows and Xbox. This means that a real UWP version of iTunes, or even an all-around media centre app could conceivably run, not just on Windows 10, but on Xbox Series X too. If this is the case, though, it remains to be seen how this functionality may or may not impinge on Apple TV.
