The iPhone SE 2 has been in the headlines for a few weeks now. The successor to the pint-sized, cheaper iPhone released two years ago is on its way, and could very well be released sooner than expected, in September.

Apple's iPhone SE was immensely successful when it was released back in March 2016, so it's no surprise that the company looks to cash into that with a direct successor to the device. The device is expected to be known as the iPhone SE 2 but new information has surfaced that indicates that may not be the case.

According to a post by popular tipster Evan Blass, the iPhone SE 2 could actually be sold as the iPhone SE (2018). The tweet says that is the project name for the device but it wouldn't be out of place for it to be branded as such, although that name tag is a tad cumbersome.

Also, the iPhone SE (2018) is expected to be launched in September, alongside the regular iPhone models for the year. Four models are touted, which could be the iPhone SE (2018), iPhone 9, iPhone 9+, and the successor to the iPhone X. That, of course, ignores the fact that there's no logical way to name the iPhone X's successor without messing up the entire naming scheme.
