iFixit publishes repair guides for Steam Machine

iFixit has published a full set of official repair guides for Valve's second-generation Steam Machine, expanding a partnership that previously covered only the Steam Deck. The 18 guides come directly from the manufacturer and cover everything from routine maintenance to component replacement. These include:

The guides also provide a useful look inside Valve’s compact gaming PC, but some repairs involve substantially more disassembly than others. For example, replacing the motherboard takes 55 steps, while replacing the heatsink or power supply requires 57 steps each. Users also require tools such as a T8 Torx screwdriver, thermal paste, thermal putty, a spudger, tweezers and so on. Thankfully, iFixit provides a repair difficulty rating for each guide, ranging from "Very easy" to "Moderate", as well as the estimated repair time.

More notably, the repair guides currently outpace the hardware needed to act on it: iFixit has not yet listed any Steam Machine components in its parts store, with replacements said to be coming "soon" (without a firm date). For owners willing to perform their own repairs, the guides provide a clear roadmap, although replacement procedures may require extensive teardown and replacement parts not yet available.
