New 4X grand strategy game hits 1.0 on Steam with big 50% launch discount, "Very Positive" reviews

Endless Legend 2 reached version 1.0 on 17 September 2026. It has now left early access almost exactly a year after it entered. Developed by Paris-based Amplitude Studios and published by Hooded Horse, the 4X sequel launched simultaneously on PC — via Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store — alongside newly announced PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. List price is $49.99 — a 50% launch discount brings that down to $24.99.

The game's setting is Saiadha, an oceanic world in slow collapse, and its core mechanic is the tidefall: periodic cataclysms that drain the seas, exposing fresh land, resources and invasion routes into territory that was previously unreachable. Amplitude built the system to address a familiar 4X problem — that players stop exploring once the early game ends. The studio stopped deliberately short of letting receding water destroy existing cities and units. Their reasoning was that players would resent losing hard-won progress.

Amplitude's well-established FIDSI economy is what the Endless Legend 2 is based on — food, industry, dust, science and influence — with asymmetric factions that each break the rules in their own way. Combat is based on the studio's work on Humankind.

The 1.0 build also adds the Sandshapers as a sixth major faction, alongside the Mangrove of Harmony. It's a starfish-like minor faction designed with the Amplitude community, with its own hero, questline, villages and recruitable units. Two rogue factions also arrived at launch, and multiplayer — absent when early access began — is now in.

Steam reviews are currently "Very Positive" across more than 1,500 English entries — 88% of the last 206 are positive. PC Gamer's review described it as further proof of Amplitude's strong standing among 4X developers.

Requirements are pretty modest as well: an i5-4430 and GTX 960 with 8 GB of RAM at minimum, bumping to an i7-6700 and GTX 1070, with 25 GB of storage. The game is Steam Deck Verified. You can view Endless Legend 2's Steam store page here.
