eufy Omni C28 robot vacuum review: Capable mid-range robot vacuum without any gimmicks
Nothing fancy, just a solid robot vacuum.
While the Omni C28 doesn’t do anything particularly special, it does what it’s supposed to do, well. At its mid-range price point, it can take care of your everyday cleaning needs with ease.Vineet Washington Published
Verdict - Solid mid-range all-in-one cleaning solution
With its average suction power, the Omni C28 is not going to win any awards in the cleaning department, but that doesn’t take away from its capabilities. For regular use cases with hardwood, laminate, or tile flooring, it does a perfectly sufficient job. For the most part, carpet cleaning is handled well. It does bump into objects when backing up, but the cleaning quality is unaffected. The eufy app is easy to use, and setting up scheduled tasks is a breeze. Plus, it monitors the various cleaning components of the robot vacuum and the base station, so maintenance is easy as well.

Setup and app
The Omni C28 setup is fairly compact, and everything feels solid. The ramp is easy to install on the base, and the full setup process takes less than five minutes. With the Omni C28 in place, the eufy app needs to be downloaded to establish a Wi-Fi connection. Once connected and updated to the latest firmware, the robot can be sent on a mapping run. It is quite quick at recognizing obstacles and different rooms — more on that later — and the app allows for saving multiple maps for those who have multiple levels in their homes.
Features
The eufy Omni C28 is a fairly new release, as it was unveiled alongside the Omni S2 flagship model. The Omni C28 is a lower-end offering from the brand, but it offers upgraded suction power over the older but similarly priced eufy X10 Pro Omni. It boasts 15,000 Pa suction power, which is not the strongest in this price range but is enough for picking up household dust and debris. It uses the company’s iPath 2.0 Smart Navigation system with LDS to quickly and accurately map out spaces.
The HydroJet Self‑Cleaning Roller Mop system is a combination of a scraper and 25 water jets that keep the mop clean in real-time. It also doesn’t use dual-round mops like a lot of other robot vacuums, but a roller mop instead. When going over hair and fur, the DuoSpiral Detangle Brush setup prevents the rollers from getting clogged.
Coming to the Omni station, it is a 5‑in‑1 solution that has auto-emptying, mop washing, hot-air drying, waste water collection, and water refilling capabilities. The three-litre bag can store up to 75 days of dirt, while the 2.2-litre clean water tank can clean up to 3,230 square feet, based on the mode.
Everything is controlled via the eufy app. There are options for home, room, zone, and common cleaning tasks with scheduling. It allows choosing between vacuum only or vacuum + mop, the intensity, the amount of water used, and the suction power. There is also an AI automation toggle that automatically adjusts settings based on the type of room, though it is unclear how it makes that decision. The Omni C28 allows for smart assistant integration as well, so Google and Alexa voice commands can be used to start cleaning.
Navigation and obstacle detection
For the most part, the Omni C28 can navigate around objects efficiently. It can reach the target zone or room quickly, after briefly positioning itself when coming off the base. The robot vacuum did not have any issues going under objects, though there weren’t any challenging, narrow spaces in my residence. It did struggle to climb the rug in the bedroom, even though the base is just 9 mm – 10 mm thick. The fibers, however, are 25 mm – 26 mm tall, so even though they are soft like fur, the total height exceeds what the Omni C28 is capable of traversing. That being said, in one instance, it eventually did manage to climb the rug, but wasn’t able to vacuum it. It couldn’t route to the zone, and after sending a notification, it tried to go back home, only to get stuck trying to find a way off the rug.
While the Omni C28 does a good job at avoiding obstacles head-on, we noticed that it would hit them when backing up. That was especially evident around table legs and in tighter spaces. This led to scratches on the body, and while the front has the protective shield, the back does not. This behaviour is due to the square design of the Omni C28, which makes it back up a little before trying to navigate out of a tight space. The scratches caused by metal are unfortunately permanent, as you can see in the images below.
Cleaning performance
As mentioned earlier, the 15,000 Pa suction power is not the strongest, but good enough for wooden or tile floors. Overall, the Omni C28 does a great job at cleaning dust and debris, with smart mapping, carpet detection, and self-cleaning. The dirt and mop roller keeps itself clean and can be easily detached for manual cleaning as well. Same with the side brushes, as hair does get tangled around them. As for carpets, as long as the pile height is within the threshold, the Omni C28 does an acceptable job. However, it does leave some dust bunnies on the platform of the base station, which need to be cleaned manually.
We did notice some streaks being left behind on laminate flooring when mopping, but only in areas where it rotates, and not all the time. eufy recommends using the ‘High’ water setting to avoid streaks, but every floor absorbs water differently, so your experience may vary. Besides that, it picks up hair and debris efficiently while also keeping the rollers clean and tangle-free.
The app monitors all components and alerts the user when they need to be cleaned or replaced. Furthermore, all the rollers and brushes can be easily disassembled, so maintenance is simple.
