Google has announced Android Beta 13.3, the third beta build since Android 13 reached Platform Stability. The latest beta build contains a surprising number of fixes, especially considering the impending arrival of Android 13 Beta 4. Beta 3.3 contains several bug fixes for Pixel smartphones, starting with the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL.

Google has released another revision of Android 13 Beta 3, having delivered Beta 3.2 earlier this month. As we discussed at the time, Beta 3.2 fixed a few issues, including where the back gesture would not work in some applications. Similarly, Beta 3.3 addresses more bugs that were present in Beta 3.2. However, there are still numerous known issues in Beta 3.3 relating to Android platform, first-party applications, Android Auto and Android TV. You can read the full known issues in Android 13 Beta 3 through Google's release notes.

As far as Beta 3.3 goes, Google claims to have fixed seven issues, quite a lot considering that Beta 4 is around the corner. For reference, Beta 3.3 is rolling out as TPB3.220617.002, up from TPB3.220610.004 in the case of Beta 3.2. According to Google's release notes, Beta 3.3 fixes the following issues:

  • Fixed an issue with the Pixel launcher where if the Always show keyboard option was enabled for the app drawer, then when the user closed the app drawer and opened an app folder on the Home screen, the keyboard was erroneously shown as well. (Issue #236584457)
  • Fixed an issue where in some cases, such as gesturing to go back, the system UI crashed. (Issue #236558007)
  • Fixed an issue where devices couldn't connect to a WiFi network in some cases even when the network was available and the signal strength was good. (Issue #236617510)
  • Fixed an issue where the BluetoothManagerService continued to try and bind to the TbsService even when bluetooth.profile.ccp.server.enabled was false, leading to slow performance and cold starts for apps.
  • Fixed an issue where in some cases after a device was plugged in to charge (for example, overnight), the device would become unresponsive until it was rebooted.
  • Fixed a kernel issue with lib/list_debug.c that caused a kernel panic in certain cases on some devices.
  • Fixed an issue with the Connectivity Thermal Power Manager that caused slow UI rendering, unresponsiveness in apps, and poor battery performance in some cases.

As always, Google will be issuing Beta 3.3 as an over-the-air (OTA) update for eligible smartphones. Alternatively, you can download the latest beta build via the Android Flash Tool, which also allows you to start afresh should you need to do so. Currently, Android 13 Beta 3.3 is available on the Pixel 4 through Pixel 6 series, including all A-series models.
