The Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Google’s most expensive and most compelling smartphone has received a huge price cut. Currently $300 off, it’s matching its all-time low price, with Google also throwing in 1 year of free Gemini Advanced access worth $239.
Amazon has marked down the Pixel 9 Pro Fold from its regular $1,800 price to an all-time low of $1,500. The 512GB variant is also marked down by $300 and can be had for just $1,619. That’s an impressive saving on one of the best foldables you can buy in the US right now.
A superb all-around foldable phone
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is a big step up over its predecessor in almost all departments, featuring a better form factor, sturdier hinge, and less visible crease. Thanks to the new aspect ratio, the device easily fits into one hand and feels just like a regular phone when closed. When opened, it reveals an 8-inch foldable screen with 2076 x 2151 resolution and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. With a peak brightness of 2,684 nits (APL 18), the 9 Pro Fold’s display is brighter than any other foldable available in the US—it’s almost twice as bright as the first Pixel Fold. The triple camera system, comprising a 48MP primary shooter, a 10.8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 10.5MP ultra-wide sensor, does a great job under good lighting conditions but its low-light performance leaves a bit to be desired compared to the regular Pixel 9 and 9 Pro. That said, it’s still one of the better foldables as far as camera performance is concerned.
While the 9 Pro Fold’s 4,650mAh battery is on the smaller side, it did rather well in our in-house battery test, achieving an impressive runtime of 14.5 hours for the inner 8-inch screen. And with Google promising seven years of software support, this thing will receive updates longer than you’ll ever keep it. All in all, it’s a great all-round foldable phone without any glaring red flags.
