The Sims-like simulation game, inZOI, features virtual versions of a multitude of life’s mechanics, including death. And just like everything else, there’s a wide variety of possibilities. InZOI's game director Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim shared that the game includes 16 different ways in which your ZOI can meet their demise, including slipping and falling in the bathroom or getting electrocuted, to name a few.
According to a report by PCGamer citing a conversation with inZOI game director Kim, there are a lot of ways interesting and unique ways in which the in-game character, called a ZOI, can die. When asked about the same, Kim reportedly said, “In Inzoi we have a lot of different types of death, because life comes with death. In Inzoi you could go to the bathroom and if you slip you might die. Or if you eat some old food you might have to go to the bathroom and, again, die. And when you fix broken-down electronics you might get electrocuted, so you need to be careful. I made the chance really low, but actually, electronics can very often break down. We have 16 different types of deaths (official translation)."
Getting hit by cars or having low acknowledgment/reputation can also lead to the ZOI’s death.
He further went on to state that one type of death that is exclusive to inZOI is dying from the need for recognition. As an example, Kim said if a rumor was spreading about your ZOI regarding a fight with someone, it could come back to you and have a negative impact on your acknowledgment. If your acknowledgment drops below a certain point, your ZOI might die.
This sheds some light on the reputation system in the game and how crucial it is to the simulated world. It is also possible that a ZOI that dies with a bad reputation can come back as a ghost.
Developed by KRAFTON, inZOI will be available in early access starting March 28 on Steam.
