Exciting news for all those who are using or interested in the Yale Linus Smart Lock L2: the company is rolling out an update to make the device compatible with Matter.
This firmware update significantly enhances the Linus L2’s interoperability. Whilst the smart lock was already capable of connecting to various smart home devices, the added Matter compatibility greatly expands the number of options. Matter is a smart home standard that allows countless devices and services to communicate with each other, meaning the Yale Linus L2 is now compatible with a wide range of smart ecosystems, including Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home and Samsung SmartThings. The company also promises an easy set-up process for the smart lock.
Yale launched the Linus Smart Lock L2 around a year ago. Matter compatibility was announced back then and has now finally been delivered ten months later. The Yale smart lock stands out with its fairly slim design, amongst other things. According to the company, it is compatible with most mechanical locks and cylinders and features a built-in Wi-Fi bridge.
Various methods are available to enable and disable the smart lock, including the Yale App, Yale Smart Keyboard and Yale Dot. The device can also connect to products from the Yale Smart Security Ecosystem, such as the Smart Alarm, Smart Cameras and Smart Video Doorbell. The number of options has now increased substantially thanks to the update.
