Xplore Technologies announced earlier today the new XC6 series of rugged tablet PCs capable to offer outstanding durability, top performance and "the most advanced sunlight readable screen on the market."
The XC6 is advertised by its manufacturer as "the industry's most rugged tablet." Third-party tests reveal that the water and dust proof slate complies with the MIL-STD-810G standard but it even goes beyond that as it boasts a seven-foot drop rating as well.
Xplore Technologies' XC6 base configuration includes a fourth generation Intel Core processor (Celeron, i5 or i7), 4G LTE connectivity, up to 256 GB of SSD storage, and a rugged multi-touch display with a brightness reading of 1,300 NITs that provides excellent visibility "even in extreme lighting situations." These are the main variants of the XC6 family:
- XC6 DMSR: ideal for outdoor and industrial environments, it packs the best sunlight readable display on the market
- XC6 M2: designed for military applications, it meets the RE102 Certification for fixed-wing aircraft and front line usage, is extremely rugged and has an integrated CAC reader for extra security against unauthorized access
- XC6 DM/DML: optimized for manufacturing work and indoor warehousing, these tablets offer extreme durability for a lowered cost, as they use Intel Celeron dual core processors
The slates come loaded with Windows 7 or Windows 8 and offer a battery life of over 8 hours. Since they are built using high-end technologies and materials to achieve extreme reliability and durability, their prices start at $5,299 USD. For more details, please check the press release below.
