Xiaomi reveals specifications of the Mi 9's rear-facing triple camera system
Xiaomi has decided to plug the leaks in regard to the expected main triple camera system on its upcoming Mi 9 flagship smartphone. The Chinese manufacturer has taken to Twitter to upload a few posts showing off the device and detailing the Mi 9’s camera specifications. Along with the sensor information, the OEM also described the use of a “scratch-resistant sapphire glass” cover that should help protect the cameras from bangs and bumps.
Xiaomi’s technical specifications for the Mi 9’s rear-facing triple camera setup are as follows:
- The 48 MP main camera: Sony IMX586 sensor, 0.8 µm pixels, 1/2 in sensor, f/1.75 aperture, supports 1.6 µm 4-in-1 Super Pixel (12 MP), 6P lens, closed-loop motor.
- The 16 MP ultra wide-angle camera: 1.0 µm, 117° Field of View, 4 cm macro photography, f/2.2 aperture, 6P lens, AF, closed-loop motor.
- The 12 MP telephoto camera: 1.0 µm, f/2.2 aperture, 6P lens, AF, closed-loop motor.
Xiaomi then demonstrates the macro photography abilities of the camera, the laser autofocus, and the closed-loop voice coil motor (VCM), which apparently offers faster focusing speeds than open loop VCM. It’s a notable setup that should appeal to photography enthusiasts, as long as the software matches the hardware. Xiaomi has also catered for selfie fans by implementing a 20 MP sensor in the front of the Mi 9.
