Buying an RTX laptop? MSI will extend warranty by one year if purchased from Xotic PC
Purchasing a new laptop in the U.S. normally comes with a one-year limited manufacturer warranty with a few OEMs offering two years as standard. In an attempt to remain competitive now that RTX laptops are available, MSI will offer two-year limited warranty as standard on its laptops.
The change, however, comes with a couple of caveats. Firstly, the offer applies only to new MSI GeForce RTX laptops and so older GTX laptops will still have the usual one-year limited warranties. Secondly, users must purchase the MSI laptop from select resellers like Xotic PC where systems are customized and built-to-order (BTO) for customers. Buyers must also register their new purchases with MSI in order to take advantage of the warranty.
Why not offer the two-year warranty on every new RTX laptop purchased no matter the store or market? By having it be exclusive to BTO resellers, MSI can help boost sales and traffic to these smaller online stores who have to compete against Amazon and Newegg. BTO resellers like Xotic PC and iBuyPower are typically more specialized in gaming PCs with potentially higher levels of customer service as a result.
The promotion applies to U.S. customers and we'll update this page once we learn more about any pertinent regions. Other major gaming OEMs like Asus have yet to offer something similar as of this writing.
