Xiaomi launches new Redmi laptop line with displays outperforming MacBook Neo
Xiaomi has launched two new laptops under the Redmi Book 2026 lineup. The key differentiator between the two is the display size, and both come with displays that have better specs than the one on the MacBook Neo, which has a 60Hz IPS panel.
Among the two, the Redmi Book 14 2026 is fitted with a 14-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It sports a 1800p resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and a brightness rating of 500 nits. With 100% sRGB color coverage and full DC dimming, it promises accurate color output and a comfortable viewing experience.
The Redmi Book 16 2026, on the other hand, sports a 16-inch display with the same refresh rate. It's a 1600p panel with a 400-nit brightness rating, making it slightly less pixel-dense and less ideal for viewing under bright lights.
Besides the display, the other specs are more or less the same. Both are powered by the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H, which is disappointing to see as it's a mid-range processor from the Meteor Lake lineup. It would have been better to see the laptops coming with a newer Panther Lake or Lunar Lake processor.
This Meteor Lake processor is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM running at 7,467MT/s, and Xiaomi is offering up to 1TB of PCIe 4.0 storage in the pre-configured options.
Now, while the Redmi Book 16 2026 is slightly larger in size, Xiaomi has oddly decided to equip it with the same 80Wh battery that powers the 14-inch model. The two laptops come with a 100W GaN charger.
Speaking of the size, the Redmi Book 14 2026 measures 312mm in width, while the 16-inch model has a width of 354.98mm. The former is slightly lighter in weight, coming in at 3.28 pounds instead of 4.1 pounds.
As for the price, the Redmi Book 14 2026 starts at CNY 5,499, around $806. The 16-inch model starts at CNY 5,699, about $835. These aren't quite as affordable as the MacBook Neo, but they are priced lower than the recently launched Xiaomi Book Pro 2026 line (Core Ultra 5 325-equipped model curr. $1,513.46 on TradingShenzhen).
