Xiaomi TV A50: New, affordable 4K TV with fast WiFi unveiled
Xiaomi is offering a new TV set, the TV A50, which should not be confused with the Redmi TV A50. The differences between the two models are limited, as the Redmi TV A50 only supports WiFi in the 2.4 GHz band and not both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands like the Xiaomi TV A50, and the Redmi TV A50 also comes with a sound system with an output of 20 watts.
As the name suggests, the Xiaomi TV A50 measures 50 inches diagonally. Like virtually every other current TV, the panel has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 and can thus render high-resolution material in high quality. The screen-to-body ratio is given as 97.2%. According to Xiaomi, the brightness of the panel can be automatically adjusted to the ambient lighting. In the best-case scenario, this ensures pleasant playback at all times without glare and can also reduce power consumption at the same time. However, it is not a particularly fast panel.
The TV A50 is also a Smart TV. Cortex A35 cores have access to 2 GB of RAM, and the MIUI TV OS allows for direct playback of media content. The internal storage is 32 GB. As previously mentioned, the network connection can be via dual-band WiFi, but also via Ethernet. There are two HDMI and an antenna input, as well as two USB ports and an optical audio output.
In Xiaomi's home market of China, the TV A50 is currently available at a price equivalent to around $218. Information about a global launch is not yet available.
