Honor has introduced a new notebook in the form of the MagicBook X16, which is a fairly compact model that is likely to be suitable for typical applications such as text and photo editing and internet surfing. Despite a powerful Intel processor, the notebook's suitability for more demanding workloads is likely to be limited. Specifically, an Intel Core i5-13420 is used, which has eight cores. The maximum boost clock frequency is given as 4.6 GHz, and unsurprisingly there is no dedicated GPU.
A 16-inch screen is installed, which is unlikely to generate a storm of enthusiasm. It only has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and is thus not particularly sharp. However, at least the sRGB colour space should be completely covered, and the maximum brightness is given as 300 cd/m². The typical contrast is said to be 1,000:1.
Other specs include 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD, a 720p front camera, two speakers and two microphones. Connectivity consists of WiFi and Bluetooth, as well as several USB ports and a USB Type C interface with full functionality. HDMI and a standard jack socket are also on board.
The 60 Wh battery should provide a running time of up to 11 hours and can be fully charged in 1.5 hours. In China, the MagicBook X16 is now available at a price of $485, which is still a reduced price. Information about a global release is yet to be seen.
