Xiaomi Redmi K40S or Redmi K50 series smartphone tipped to arrive early next year with a 120 Hz display and a Snapdragon 870 SoC
Digital Chat Station has delivered more information about a future Redmi smartphone. While the renowned leaker does not mention the device by name, GSMArena believes that Xiaomi will release it as the Redmi K40S or under the upcoming Redmi K50 series. For reference, if the Redmi K40S follows the pattern of the Redmi K30S, then it will be a re-branded Xiaomi 11T.
Apparently, the mystery Redmi smartphone has a 6.7-inch OLED display that runs natively at 120 Hz and 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. Digital Chat Station adds that the device will ship with a 50 MP primary camera, rather than a 108 MP one shown in leaked Xiaomi 11T series marketing renders.
Additionally, Digital Chat Station asserts that the handset utilises the SM8250, a part name shared between the Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 865 Plus and Snapdragon 870. Presumably, Xiaomi will source the latter, which carries the part number SM8250-AC.
Unfortunately, Digital Chat Station reports that the device will not arrive until sometime next year. If that is the case, we would expect Xiaomi to release it as a Redmi K50 series device, not the Redmi K40S.
