Reviews for the Xiaomi Poco X7
The Xiaomi Poco X7 proves you can get a very well-equipped smartphone for little money. Its case, display and battery life all get the thumbs up—and it even supports eSIMs. However, Xiaomi has cut some corners in a few places.

The Poco X7 starts at Rs. 21,999 for the 128GB storage model while the X7 Pro at Rs. 27,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The X7 is a great value proposition for users looking to upgrade to a smartphone under Rs. 25,000 at these prices. While X7 Pro is a better deal, it offers more for less, and thanks to its fresh design approach, it becomes an excellent package under Rs. 30,000. While there are shortcomings, for example, bloatware is the biggest issue for Poco X7 and X7 Pro, whereas the cameras are not class-leading. Additionally, the software update promise isn't comparable to the competition. But, when it comes to performance credentials, the X7 and X7 Pro deliver and can also outshine their competition. The X7 goes up against the iQOO Z9s, which retails at under Rs. 20,000 and the Motorola Edge 50 Neo (Review). For the X7 Pro, the two closest alternatives are the OnePlus Nord 4 (Review) and Motorola Edge 50 Fusion (Review).

The budget range isn’t what it used to be, and that’s no bad thing. In recent years it has become jam-packed with quality offerings, which might make the proposition of choosing an individual phone more difficult, but which also conversely means most choices will be a safe one. And that describes the Poco X7, as a safe choice. It has a somewhat old design that lacks pizzazz, there’s nothing in its spec sheet which really jumps out, it’s a series of sensible decisions coalesced into a middle of the road smartphone. That isn’t to say that the experience of using it is bad, or even boring. It flies through most tasks, it has good battery life and a pleasant screen, and for many people that will be enough.

The POCO X7 5G is a good addition to the lineup and has a lot of things going for it. The phone comes in a robust, well-designed chassis, and has a top-notch display, which delivers a great multimedia experience. It also offers decent camera performance in daylight, while the battery backup is equally good. Its chief competitors include the iQOO Z9s (review) and the Moto Edge 50 Neo (review). The iQOO Z9s is another performance-centric device that comes with a similar processor and is a better performer than the POCO X7 at a cheaper price. It has similar battery life and charging speeds too, but its cameras are a notch behind the POCO X7. The Moto Edge 50 Neo also comes with a similar chipset and matches the POCO X7’s performance and cameras, but its battery life isn’t as great, so heavy users might feel the pinch.

While it doesn’t offer a huge leap over the POCO X6, it introduces a refined design, a newer chipset, and impressive durability. For those seeking a reliable midrange device with solid features and long-term software support, the POCO X7 is a good choice. However, with many competitors in this price range, it might not stand out unless you value its specific features.

The Poco X7 represents excellent value for money. Not only has Xiaomi provided improvements in build and camera quality compared to previous models, it’s managed to do so while lowering the asking price. Battery life, performance and display quality remain competitive with rival phones and, while it’s a shame to note that charging speed has gotten a little worse this time around, you still get a decent 45W plug in the box. If there’s one lingering concern it’s that Xiaomi continues to lag behind on the software front, with a fussy UI and a mediocre update promise. The competition from Motorola and Samsung have much to recommend them on this front, among others. However, the Poco X7 has the hardware chops and aggressive pricing to keep it in the mix.

The Poco X7 is not a major step up from the Poco X6. It comes with a refreshed design, a newer chipset and a better camera, but the complete water resistance and the enhanced shock absorption are probably the most notable improvements. Still, if you are not coming from a Poco X6 or Redmi Note 14 Pro, the Poco X7 will impress you with design, screen and even performance. We found its battery life and charging good enough, and its rich connectivity options are a big plus. The Poco X7 main camera does not live up to our expectations as it didn't offer a lossless 2x zoom, which was available on the Poco X6 (with a solid 4x option even, too). While the Poco X7 Pro comes with HyperOS 2 and Android 15, the X7 comes with HyperOS 1 and Android 14, which means one less major upgrade for this phone.
