Xiaomi Paper Book Pro II launches with an E-ink display that has a 300 PPI pixel density
Xiaomi has unveiled the Paper Book Pro II, an eReader with a 7.8-inch display that is also 7 mm thick and weighs 250 g. Released in China, the Xiaomi Paper Book Pro II has a 1,872 x 1,404-pixel panel with a 300 PPI pixel density and 24 brightness levels. Additionally, Xiaomi has included colour temperature adjustments, allowing you to cycle the eReader from cold to warm white.
Incidentally, the Paper Book Pro II relies on the Rockchip RK3566, a SoC found in the PINE64 Quartz64 Model B too. For reference, the RK3566 has four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 2 GHz and a Mali-G52 2EE GPU, among other components. Supposedly, the SoC, which Xiaomi complements with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, halves the first-generation model's response times.
Moreover, the eReader supports PDF and TXT files, not just e-book file types. Reportedly, the eReader can display Excel documents and PowerPoint presentations too, should you need to use the Paper Book Pro II for office work. Xiaomi adds that the Paper Book Pro II should last up to 6 weeks between charges, thanks to its 3,200 mAh battery. Currently, the Paper Book Pro II is orderable in China for CNY 1,199 (~US$188); an international launch remains unknown at this stage.
