Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 allegedly priced for success in China as leaked technical drawing confirms design
The well-known leaker Digital Chat Station has been sharing more details about the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5, a series of tablets that is expected to be made up of three different SKUs. Apparently, the entry-level model, which will also feature a stylus and come powered by the Snapdragon 860, will be priced very aggressively in China at 1,999 yuan (US$308) or even less. No price has been leaked for the model/s with the Snapdragon 870 yet.
It has been reasoned that such pricing could lead to this particular Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 model costing around €349 to €399 (US$412 to US$471) if it makes it to the European market. This is not an unsubstantial amount, but it is still quite competitive considering the expected features of the Mi Pad 5 and suggests Xiaomi wants to face off against Apple’s entry level iPad with its upcoming Android tablet range.
A technical drawing of the Xiaomi tablet has also been leaked, revealing a design that was already widely believed for the Mi Pad 5. The design language has clearly been inspired by the Xiaomi Mi 11 smartphone, with very narrow bezels and the familiar square housing for the rear-facing camera equipment. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 range, or whatever name the Chinese OEM gives to its latest generation of tablets, could see the light of day in August.
