In summary, Xiaomi Mi CC9e is a bit regrettable because its screen resolution is not high, but as a product with a price of only 1299 yuan, it has the same fingerprint recognition, camera ability and large battery as the Xiaomi Mi CC9. At the same time, it is not an easy task to control costs.

Overall image quality from the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition’s front camera doesn’t live up to the excellent results we observed from its rear camera. For Xiaomi to challenge devices toward the top of our rankings, it will need improvements in exposure for both wider dynamic range and accuracy of dark skin tones; greater depth of field for sharper backgrounds and faces at long distances; and more consistent results for color. That all said, the Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition does boast some good strengths for selfies, including a strong bokeh rendering with generally good subject isolation when shooting in Portrait mode.

While the Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition is a formidable competitor in the camera field, its overall Audio score of 54 sends it straight to the back of the classroom. Its most notable flaw is of course the single speaker placed at the bottom left of the device, which not only creates an unnatural experience when playing back music and movies, but can also be problematic when playing games. Other issues, such as noticeable lack of bass, inverted stereo recording, and high distortion at maximum volume, also pile up on the negative side.

Overall, the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro is an impressive premium mid-range device. It’s got a massive battery life, performance is smooth-sailing, moderately good display, exquisite design and build, and let’s face it, Xiaomi’s penta-camera novelty delivered quality images. It might have a slight heft and weight to it, the camera bump is bulky, the speaker isn’t the greatest, but those are pretty much minor issues compared to the pros of the device.

The Xiaomi Mi CC9 is shaping up to be an impressive device. Its pricing is even more intriguing as it costs only 2,800 Chinese Yuan for 6/128GB (around 350 euros or 400 US dollars). The only real caveat is that the Mi CC9 Pro will only be sold in China for the time being. There are rumors about an international launch under a different name, but we'll have to wait to learn more about that.
