Update | Xiaomi Mi 7 spotted online carrying an extremely attractive price tag
Update 4: The May 31 event has been all but confirmed to be the launch of the Mi 8. Surprisingly, there also appears to be the existence of another device, the Mi 8 SE. Note that this would not be the first time we hear reports of two Mi flagships—there was already word of a Mi 7 Plus months ago. It's currently unknown what differentiates both devices.
Meanwhile, a leaked retail box of the Mi 8 has confirmed that it will sport a vertically-aligned dual rear camera setup, one of which will be a 20 MP sensor. It will also not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack—no surprise since last year's Mi 6 didn't.
Biometric security features of the Mi 8 remain unknown. There has been substantial word of a 3D facial recognition system, and even a live video showcasing an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Update 3: Xiaomi has sent out invites for an event scheduled to hold on May 31. The event is themed around the company's 8-year anniversary, and will likely also be the launch of the Mi 7—or Mi 8, if recent information is anything to go by.
Also, a billboard has collaborated the original listing in this article. Going by the image, the base model of the Mi 8 (6/64 GB) will be sold for CNY 2799 (about $450), while the 8/128 GB model will sell for CNY 3199—about US$520.
Update 2: As said in a previous article, the Mi 7 will actually be the Mi 8. What appears to be a retail box of the device has surfaced. A front panel labelled "Mi 8" has also been revealed by a reliable source, showing both a notch and quite sizeable bottom bezels. The fact that the Mi 7/8 would sport a notch has been known for a while now.
Also, a live video of the device has been released, showcasing its in-display fingerprint sensor. Before now, all reports claimed it would feature a facial recognition system, so this is something of a curveball.
Update: Xiaomi has sent out invites for an event scheduled to hold in Shenzhen, China. Unfortunately, there's no date listed on the teaser, so nothing is concrete at the moment. However, a signboard at a shop in China has the Mi 7 listed as going on pre-order on May 27. That could be an indication that the device will be launched close to that date, especially with a few sources touting a May 23 launch.

Original Article
Xiaomi released the Mi Mix 2S a few months ago. While that device is as top-of-the-line as it gets and features all the latest hardware, it isn't the company's main flagship for the year. That honor rests with the Mi 7, Xiaomi's next premium device.
The Mi 7 made a shock appearance on Xiaomi's official store for a short while, according to a report by Gizchina. The device was listed with a Snapdragon 845, 6 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of storage, all of which are about par for flagships this year. Of more interest to us was the device's price tag. It was listed for CNY 2799, which translates to about US$450.
That's all sorts of incredible, really. OnePlus, for example, is hailed as offering flagships at low prices but the company's next device, the OnePlus 6, is expected to cost US$550. If this listing turns out to be true, it would make the Mi 7 the cheapest mainstream flagship this year, and by quite some distance.
The Mi 7 is expected to boast of features like 3D facial recognition, wireless charging, and, of course, a notch. Like its predecessor, it will likely not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack.
