Xiaomi 16 series once again tipped to come with massive battery upgrade across the board

The first flagships powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will be from Xiaomi, particularly the Xiaomi 16 series. As per recent leaks, the phones could launch as early as September 24 which is around when Qualcomm is expected to unveil the new mobile SoC. Now, a new leak that backs initial claims suggests that all three phones in the Xiaomi 16 series will come with massive batteries to compliment the new SoC.

The information comes from credible leaker Yogesh Brar on X where he posted battery capacities for the three Xiaomi 16 series phones. The base Xiaomi 16 will come with 7,000 mAh, the Xiaomi 16 Pro will come with 6,300 mAh, and the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max will come with 7,500 mAh. These are massive battery numbers even compared to the company’s already large batteries in the Xiaomi 15 series.

The Xiaomi 15 carries a 5,240 mAh cell (global variant) while the Xiaomi 15 Pro packs a 6,100 mAh cell. It may sound weird that the Xiaomi 16 Pro has a smaller battery than the non-Pro variant, but compared to the 15 Pro, it is still an upgrade despite the rumored compact size. Yes, the Pro model is said to be the same size as the non-Pro. Furthermore, there are also talks of a Xiaomi 16 Ultra that will sport a 1-inch sensor for the main camera and a 200-MP telephoto lens.

This isn’t the first time these battery numbers have surfaced. Late last month, another leaker shared these exact values. This upgrade, of course, has been made possible thanks to Silicon-Carbon tech that Chinese manufacturers have jumped on, more so than Samsung, Apple, and Google. The OnePlus 15 is expected to come with a 7,000 mAh battery with incredibly fast 120W wired charging. The Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro are expected to be quite thin but carry more than 6,630 mAh and around 7,500 mAh, respectively.
