Xiaomi has refreshed its flagship smartphone series with the Xiaomi 15S Pro, less than three months after presenting the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. For context, the Xiaomi 15 series actually started in late October with the Xiaomi 15 (curr. $1,069.99 on Amazon) and the Xiaomi 15 Pro. Strictly speaking, the Xiaomi 15S Pro does not replace the Xiaomi 15 Pro, unlike previous 'S' refreshes such as the Xiaomi 12S Pro.
Instead, the Xiaomi 15S Pro serves to showcase the Xring O1, an in-house 3 nm chipset that seeks to rival the Snapdragon 8 Elite when it comes to performance. For reference, Xiaomi complements the Xring O1 with LPDDR5T RAM and UFS 4.1 flash storage regardless of the SKU chosen. Please see our dedicated Xring O1 launch article for more details about Xiaomi's first in-house smartphone SoC.
Elsewhere, the Xiaomi 15S Pro seems to carry across much of its hardware from last year's Xiaomi 15 Pro. For instance, a 6,100 mAh battery returns with support for 50 W wireless and 90 W wired charging, as does a 6.73-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 3,200 x 1,440 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 3,200 nits peak brightness. Likewise, Xiaomi's new flagship features the following camera hardware:
- Primary: 50 MP Light Hunter 900, f/1.44, 23 mm equivalent focal length, OIS
- Telephoto: 50 MP, Sony IMX858, f/2.5, 120 mm equivalent focal length, 5x optical zoom, OIS
- Ultra-wide-angle: 50 MP, Samsung ISOCELL JN1, f/2.2, 14 mm equivalent focal length, 115° FoV, 5 cm super macro support
- Front-facing: 32 MP, f/2.0, 22 mm equivalent focal length
The Xiaomi 15S Pro is available from today in China with a choice between Dragonscale Fibre and Sky Blue finishes. At the time of writing, Xiaomi offers both finishes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB or 1 TB of storage for CNY 5,499 (~$763) and CNY 5,999 (~$834). There is no word on international availability yet, though.
