Withings has released the U-Scan toilet embedded urine lab in markets worldwide. This health monitoring gadget was unveiled at CES 2023, gaining the certifications needed for it to be sold to consumers earlier in 2025.
There are two versions, the U-Scan Nutrio and the U-Scan Calci. The U-Scan Nutrio is designed to track your nutrition and your body’s response to different food types. It monitors your vitamin C levels, hydration, ketone levels and bio-acidity. Meanwhile, the U-Scan Calci is designed for those looking to measure their kidney health. This version tracks metrics like calcium levels, hydration and bio-acidity, data which could help you to manage the formation of kidney stones.
Data is collected by the Withings U-Scan when you use the toilet, triggered by a thermal sensor. The urine sample is automatically injected into a test pod, with the results uploaded to the brand’s app. Here, users can view insights and get recommendations on how they can improve their health. Plus, the device comes with the U-Scan Station, a gadget which will simultaneously clear and charge the U-Scan.
Users of the Withings U-Scan can also choose between two packages: Proactive and Intensive. The former comes with one cartridge and is for less frequent measurements, while the latter includes two cartridges for more regular checks. The Withings U-Scan Nutrio or Calci Proactive Package costs $379.95/£319.95/€349.95, while the Withings U-Scan Nutrio or Calci Intensive Package is priced at $449.96/£389.96/€429.96. Based on your chosen package, new cartridges will be shipped to your home every one to three months, with prices starting from $99.95/£89.95/€99.95 per renewal. These prices include a Withings+ subscription, which is needed to access all features.
