The Wemo Smart Dimmer, which you can use to dim or turn lights on and off, has launched. Wemo has designed the Smart Dimmer exclusively for Apple HomeKit, enabling you to control the device via the Apple Home app or with Siri voice commands. You can also link the light switch to other HomeKit devices; for example, you could use the Wemo Smart Doorbell to trigger the lights when it detects motion.
The smart light switch supports power inputs of up to 120 V or 60 Hz and can work with and without neutral wires, meaning it suits any home. However, it’s worth noting that the device is not compatible with three-way or multi-location control switches. The gadget supports Thread, providing a faster and more stable connection for all your smart home devices. Alternatively, you can connect the dimmer switch to other products via Bluetooth.
The company claims that the gadget is easy to install, with NFC Touch Pairing on your iPhone for an easy setup. The device has flicker-free technology to provide stable lighting, and Temperature Tracking ensures nothing overheats. You can pre-order the Wemo Smart Dimmer in the US for US$59.99, with shipping expected in August. The gadget is now available directly from Belkin and will soon be available via Amazon. It is unclear whether or when the device could launch in other markets.
